Our Osteopaths have a broad range of experience and knowledge in areas of specialist interest. However, as Osteopaths we remain true to our principles and always treat the whole body and person, not just the complaint. Over 75% of our patients come to us through personal recommendation from friends and family. We are confident we can provide the best approach to your pain and injury and manage you to a complete recovery.
We provide treatment for a wide range of injuries and healthcare problems including back pain, headaches, sprained ankles, repetitive strain injuries, sciatica and tennis elbow to name a few. Our patients include office workers, pregnant ladies, older patients, sports amateurs and professionals and many self-employed for whom good health is critical for the health of their business.
Our practice aims to provide each of our patients with a consistently high quality of Osteopathic care. In order to assist us in demonstrating this commitment, we have implemented the Institute of Osteopathy’s Patient Charter to illustrate the standards you can expect from this practice. In the interest of your health, it is important for you to understand all the information given to you. Please ask questions if you are unsure of anything.
“A back that ‘went’ and a hip not strong, were both fixed before too long. The pain before was ouch ouch ouch, then look I’m dancing around the couch. Now I’m back doing the cha cha cha, Vicky really is a star!”

“Having suffered with lower back pain and chronic neck tension for longer than I care to remember, and having been treated by numerous physiotherapists/osteopaths, I was recommended Michael Clarke. How my world has changed. Michael is not a ‘just treat the problem and go’ practitioner he is an exceptionally dedicated, honest, committed, talented professional. With his wealth of knowledge and guidance albeit a life style change, dietary or exercise ensuring the road to success. Indeed, Michael’s clinic is caring, friendly and relaxed with the whole team focused to the personal requirements of the client. Without any hesitation I would recommend Michael and would be proud to do so.”

“Having originally visited the clinic due to acute back pain, I continue as a regular patient because of the benefit I’ve gained in managing my chronic heart and abdominal health issues. The professional support and care provided by the clinic staff is fantastic and everyone is always so friendly and helpful.”

“I have been receiving treatment since July 2011. The treatment they have provided has been extremely effective and has produced noticeable physical improvements, often almost instantly. They are extremely proficient and take the time to explain what they are going to do and the intended results. I have been very pleasantly surprised by how the manipulation and massage techniques he uses have had such a positive effect on my movement.”
Frances, Colchester
“I have been visiting Mersea Road Clinic for the last 10 months. As a keen runner I was training for the London Marathon and picked up an injury so I went along and was very impressed with the way they went about treating me. They started by looking into why I was getting the problem and therefore not only treated the injury but the cause of it. They also gave great advice to prevent it reoccurring. I now visit Mersea Road about every six weeks as a maintenance program. Many thanks for your help.”

“I saw Steven for a sports massage in the week between the Brighton Marathon and the London Marathon in 2011. Taking part in 2 marathons that were only a week apart was a brave move and David Kennett (my osteopath at MRC) recommended seeing Steven to get the legs back to relative normality as soon as possible after Brighton. I’m not going to say it was a pain-free experience but Steven made it as relaxing as possible and his knowledge and understanding of sport and exercise was very reassuring. I can honestly say without it, I really don’t think I would have been able to get round the London course in the way that I did. Using a deep sports massage as a method of recovery is definitely something I will be doing in the future.”

“David has been treating me since September 2011 at the end of a very heavy year of training and events. In that time he has not only corrected the initial pelvic problem but he has gone on to keep me mobile and injury free so that I can continue to train and take part in my running and triathlon events. David totally understands the demands of training and how it will effect the body and this has proved invaluable. I have been able to achieve so much more than I thought was possible and I cannot thank him enough. I would recommend Mersea Road Clinic to anyone … and do on a regular basis to anyone who will listen!!”

“I am a dance teacher and performer, training up to 5 hours, 6 days a week! A few months ago I caused an injury that made it painful even to walk, but thanks to the treatment I received, I am not in any more pain and can continue to train, compete and teach in the athletic form of dance I love so much. I cant thank them enough for their level of care and understanding of my particular needs.”
Khrystie Gardner
“For over 8 years I had pain in my hips, thighs, and sometimes lower back and calf muscles. Various diagnosis by medical specialists identified symptoms and resulted in the prescription of drugs, with unpleasant side effects, that did nothing to cure the underlying problem. In less than 8 weeks of treatment by Vicki, with Michael as consultant, I have much greater freedom of movement and I am no longer suffering from pain in the hips which woke me regularly at night. I appreciate the care the team have taken both with the treatment and in explaining to me the process of correcting all the things which were wrong. I wish I’d gone to the clinic years ago.”

“First time for me at The Mersea Road Clinic, didn’t know what to expect, but found it well run and professional. Richard who help me with my shoulder and neck pain made me feel at ease and took time to explain what he was doing and why. I guess most people would need an osteopath as they get older, and getting one which excels in the treatments and services it offers, is usually by recommendations but i was lucky, I managed to find the best one 1st time! Thanks for making a 1st time nervous patient feel at ease.”
Gerry Sharpe
“I had a very painful lower back following a sporting injury. Within a few days I could barely walk 50 yards. I could not sit down for more than 5 minutes at a time and spent my days standing or lying down.I also had very, very painful sciatica 24 hours per day, 7 days per week in my right leg from my backside to my little toe. As a result of going to The Mersea Road Clinic I am back walking with no sciatica and have resumed playing sport again. Highly recommend!”
Ken Jones
“I always get great treatment from Sam. My shoulder problem has all but disappeared and I’m feeling much stronger and pain-free thanks to a combination of massage, acupuncture, manipulation and following an exercise programme. I’ve also now had a sports massage with Steven which really made a difference and loosened a lot of tight muscles. I’d definitely recommend the Mersea Road Clinic!”
Madelyn Wright
“Over the years I’ve tried a variety of healthcare approaches and Mersea Road Clinic has consistently proven to be a professional clinic with exceptional practitioners. Following treatment with osteopath David Kennett, a longstanding painful hip was resolved in 3 sessions. Now I refer friends and family without hesitation.”
Rob Veater
“Have been a regular client for many years, would recommend to any body considering treatment. Very accomplished and professional staff.”
